Project concept and direction – Allison Girvan

Echoing the diverse human experience while reflecting the shared themes of humanity, the text and music for “Twelve” is curated to reflect the contemplative nature of the work and nurture a meditation on cycle.

All “Twelve” artists in this sound installation will be stationed in a large circle around the venue each representing a number on a clock. Upon arrival, audience members will be directed to a location inside the circle opposite one of the artists and during the 30 minute soundscape, will rotate through all 12 stations.

Each artist will present a song in a different language all performed together serving to reinforce the motifs of unity, connection and harmony within diversity and will create a kaleidoscopic global murmer that will change as the listener/observer rotates around the clock.

“Twelve” is a sound installation in celebration of language and communication and in contemplation of the passage of time and the cycle of life.
