Come out for free events during this community celebration!

June 18

9 am – Paddle to view pictographs and hold ceremony
Community is invited to join in/on non-motorized boats/boards
Launch point – end of airfield at Nelson Recycling Depot (Lakeside Dr.)
& Paddle back to Lakeside Park

12:30 pm – Community lunch in front of the Capitol Theatre

2 pm – 6 pm – In front of the Capitol Theatre
Artisan market and live music with Tony Louie
View Indigenous artifacts from the NMAG collection

2 pm – 3 pm – Inside the Capitol Theatre
Presentation – Dan Nanamkin & his dogs – stories, music
and screening of short films “Salishan Sturgeon Nose Canoes”
& “Resist. Reframe. Reclaim: Upper Columbia River”

3 pm – 5 pm – Inside the Capitol Theatre
Panel discussion – led by Shelly Boyd & Gail Higginbottom
& featuring panelists: Stevey Seymour, Donna Wright, Cindy Marchand & Brittny Anderson
and Screening of short films, “Beyond Begbie” & “Calling the Salmon Home”

5 pm – 6 pm – Inside the Capitol Theatre
Presentation – attorney Mark Underhill and Shelly Boyd speaking to the recent Sinixt supreme Court decision
and Screening of a short film.
Introduction and closing statement by City of Nelson Mayor Janice Morrison

7:30 pm – Inside the Capitol Theatre
Screening of the full-length movie, “Inhabitants” film-maker Ben-Alex Dupris
Post-film Q and A with the film-maker

9:15 am – Canoe send-off at Lakeside Park
