Accessibility

The Capitol Theatre has wheelchair access at its main entrances. The lobby has an all-gender, wheelchair-accessible washroom with a baby change table.
Accessible seating is available for every performance, and assistance is available upon request. The accessible seating area also offers detached, armless seats that can accommodate larger bodies. Booster cushions are available upon request.

To reserve seats in the accessible section please call the box office (250) 352-6363 11-3pm Tuesday-Friday.

Safe storage of mobility devices during performance
(Wheelchairs/Walkers/Canes/Crutches/Car Seats/Strollers)
A patron may use walkers, canes, etc to find their seats; however, any item that cannot leave the theatre of its own volition in an emergency situation must be removed from the theatre during the performance. If the wheelchair or walker takes the place of a seat (i.e. the person is sitting in it), then it can stay in the auditorium. Canes that are small enough to fit in the space beside the seat can also remain in the theatre.

Service animals

Service animals are welcome in the theatre; however, patrons and the service animals must be seated in the accessible section.

Hearing Loop
Hearing Loop provides a wireless signal that can be picked up by hearing aids that have a ‘T’ or ‘TM’ (Telecoil) setting, allowing audio to be broadcast directly to a wide range of hearing aids. The Hearing Loop is available in the centre section from rows A through Q, which requires navigating a 10 step staircase. The Capitol has plans to expand the hearing loop in future to include the accessible seating area.

Sensory Sensitivity
The lobby is available as a quiet space during all performances. This Visual Story can help you understand what to expect at the theatre in preparation for your visit.

If you have any questions about theatre accessibility, please contact the box office (250)-352-6363 11-3pm Tuesday-Friday or email boxoffice@capitoltheatre.ca
